Senior Backend Engineer (LAMP Stack, AI Integration)

Overview

We are a specialized Swiss company with more than 20 years of experience in developing and operating web applications. Our core solution, LODUR, is built entirely on PHP, MariaDB, Apache, and Linux, and is used nationwide by fire brigades, insurance companies, and fire inspectorates.

You will work hands-on with our core technology stack. We are looking for an experienced PHP developer with exposure to Vertex AI, who understands the interaction between application code, databases, and operating systems. You are comfortable working on the Linux shell as well as designing and optimizing complex MariaDB queries.

Responsibilities

• Drive the use and adoption of AI within the company, particularly for development and documentation
• Create and maintain technical documentation of the existing system
• Conduct a security audit in collaboration with an external partner and implement the recommended improvements with the development team
• Support the coordination and implementation of test automation
• Design and develop RESTful JSON APIs and contribute to complex feature implementations

This role covers a range of responsibilities that will be addressed progressively and with clear prioritization — not all in parallel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science (Bachelor’s or higher) or equivalent qualification
• Excellent knowledge of PHP, MariaDB, and Linux server environments
• Experience with interface technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML)
• Strong skills in requirements engineering and technical specification writing
• Structured, independent working style combined with strong communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset

Work Location

• Home office with flexible working hours
• Approximately 2 days per week on-site in Lausanne with our client

Languages

• Native-level French required
• Very good English skills required
