Senior Backend PHP Developer (MySQL, APIs)

Job Summary

Meezak Technologies Limited, a leading software development and technology company in Ikeja, Lagos, is looking for an experienced Backend Web Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Python, WordPress, and CMS platforms, with a proven track record of building scalable, secure, and high-performance applications.

This is a full-time, permanent position for candidates based in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Job Description & Requirements

The Backend Web Developer will design, develop, and maintain robust server-side applications and databases that power our web and mobile solutions. You will collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and project managers to deliver seamless, secure, and optimized platforms for our clients.

Requirements: • 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Web Developer. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript. • Working knowledge of Python, WordPress, and CMS development. • Experience with RESTful APIs, third-party integrations, and database design. • Strong understanding of security, scalability, and performance optimization. • Familiarity with Git, version control, and CI/CD pipelines. • Must be resident in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and database systems. • Build, optimize, and manage APIs and integrations with external systems. • Work with frontend developers to integrate server-side logic into user-facing features. • Manage CMS platforms (WordPress and custom-built systems). • Ensure data security, performance, and system reliability. • Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code. • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems. • Stay updated with backend development trends and best practices.

E-Commerce Project Leadership • Support backend architecture for e-commerce websites and platforms. • Ensure payment gateways, inventory management, and customer data systems are secure and scalable.

Technical & Platform Management • Manage databases, hosting environments, and server configurations. • Optimize backend performance to support high-traffic applications.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination • Work closely with project managers and external vendors to deliver backend solutions on time. • Provide technical insights during project planning and execution.

Risk & Quality Assurance • Implement security measures to protect data and systems. • Conduct code reviews, testing, and performance tuning. • Ensure backend systems meet quality and compliance standards.
