Senior Backend / Platform Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Backend / Platform Engineer to help architect and build the next stage of our software platform.

We have already built and tested real working software in a live business environment. Our next step is to move important business logic out of WordPress and into a standalone backend platform connected through APIs. This includes areas such as email handling, pricing engine logic, AI-related functions, and other core services.

This role is for someone who can help us both design the architecture and implement the first migration steps safely, without breaking the existing production workflow.

What you will do

• Review the current system and define a practical migration plan
• Design and build backend services and APIs
• Help move critical functions from WordPress into a standalone service layer
• Connect the WordPress plugin to the new backend through secure API integration
• Set up deployment structure, logging, monitoring, backups, and related platform fundamentals
• Help define the right temporary and long-term infrastructure path

Required skills

• Strong backend development experience
• Strong experience with Laravel / PHP
• Experience designing and building production APIs
• Experience with cloud infrastructure / DevOps
• Experience with databases, queues, background jobs, and service architecture
• Strong understanding of security, authentication, and system reliability
• Ability to work carefully around an existing live product without causing regressions

Strong asset

• WordPress plugin integration experience
• WooCommerce experience
• Experience migrating logic from monolithic/plugin-based systems into API services
• Experience helping founders shape technical architecture in an early-stage environment

Engagement

We expect this to start as a scoped contract project focused on architecture, migration planning, and first implementation steps. If the fit is strong, this can grow into a longer-term role.
