Our Client based in Sandton is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper/ Junior Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and reconciliations
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash-up processes for retail operations
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Conduct reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure effective inventory accounting and stock control management
  • Assist with and maintain audit controls over card purchase, review of clock in data, system processes
  • Experience with statutory and tax returns
  • Capture and process transactions accurately on QuickBooks
  • Identify and resolve financial discrepancies and improve internal processes
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
  • Liaise with auditors, accountants, and relevant stakeholders when required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • BCom Accounting or
  • Diploma in Accounting and Audit

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ bookkeeping experience
  • Proven experience with:
    • Audit controls and compliance
    • Retail environment cash handling and cash-ups
    • Inventory management systems
    • Tax compliance (PAYE and Corporate Income Tax)

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy and numerical proficiency
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills
