PURPOSE AND ROLE IN THE BUSINESS: This role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, with a strong focus on asset lifecycle management, ERP systems implementation, and end-to-end business process optimisation across both underground and surface mining operations, metallurgical processing, and supporting corporate functions. The successful candidate will work closely with operational (mining and processing/plant), maintenance, logistics, and corporate support functions to ensure that processes are streamlined, systems are effectively integrated, and operational efficiency is maximised.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis, design, and optimisation of business processes across underground mining, surface mining, metallurgical processing, and enterprise support functions.
- Drive the successful implementation, integration, and enhancement of ERP, MES, SCADA/PLC etc. systems to support strategic and operational goals.
- Understand asset lifecycle management processes, ensuring optimal utilisation, maintenance, and replacement strategies for critical mining and processing assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, document, and validate business requirements. Engage decision-makers, systems owners, and end-users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals.
- Translate business needs into functional specifications for system configuration and development.
- Support change management initiatives, including training, communication, and stakeholder engagement across all functional areas.
- Provide expert guidance on mining industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to mining and processing operations.
- Research, review, and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes. Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
- Collaborate in planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
- Develop, standardise, and maintain new or improved processes based on findings and analysis.
- Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to configuration and/or development teams.
- Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood.

Minimal Requirements (Qualifications & Experience)
Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous).
