About the Position:
We are seeking a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer with strong experience in the design and delivery of underground mining infrastructure, and a passion for technical leadership, team development, and quality engineering execution.
This role is intended for an individual who can leas from the front technically, guide and develop engineers and designers, and drive civil and structural designs through the business with assurance, agility, and sound engineering judgement. The successful candidate will provide senior technical input across multidisciplinary mining projects, support practical design delivery from concept through execution, and contribute to the capability and growth of the broader Civil and Structural team.

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Qualifications • BSc. / BEng. Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering • MEng. advantageous • ECSA registration as Pr.Eng. Preferred, or registration in progress with a clear path toward professional registration
Experience • 7+ years’ consulting, EPCM, or contracting experience in mining, heavy industrial, or infrastructure projects • Demonstrated experience in the design of underground mining infrastructure • Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, heavy foundations, retaining systems, and mining related civil infrastructure • Proven track record delivering civil and structural engineering work in mining or EPCM environments • Experience guiding other engineers, reviewing technical outputs, and supporting multidisciplinary delivery teams
Skills • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills • Ability to provide technical leadership across design interfaces and project stages • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project). • Proficiency in engineering software such as Robot, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks or equivalent • Strong understanding of modelling, coordination, and information management • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to manage workflows, priorities and delivery pressures with professionalism and agility • Strong interpersonal skills and English language proficiency
Key Responsibilities • Lead and support the design and analysis of underground mining and related surface infrastructure, including chambers, pump stations, underground water-retaining structures, heavy foundations, support structures, conveyors, transfer areas, and associated civil and structural systems. • Produce, review, and coordinate engineering deliverables including calculations, specifications, reports, scopes of work, models, and drawings. • Provide technical direction and day-to-day guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, designers, and draughting personnel. • Review engineering outputs for quality, consistency, constructability, and compliance with client, regulatory, and company standards. • Support Civil & Structural discipline planning, progress monitoring, and technical delivery across multiple projects. • Interface with clients and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and support practical decision-making. • Ensure compliance with applicable South African codes, standards, and sound engineering practice. • Contribute to man-hour estimates, capital cost development, technical schedules, and scope definition. • Support tender and proposal development through technical input, methodology definition, and scope clarification. • Conduct site visits, investigations, and engineering assessments to support studies, design development, and construction activities. • Support procurement, construction, commissioning, and technical query resolution as required. • Assist in the development of internal engineering standards, technical work practices, and discipline capability. • Contribute to team growth through mentoring, coaching, and technical checking of others’ work. • Support the Technical Business Lead and broader discipline leadership in strengthening delivery assurance, technical quality, and team capability.
