Senior Civil Structural Engineer

A well-established engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of major civil and structural engineering projects. This role offers the opportunity to work across infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and residential developments while providing technical leadership within a high-performing multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capability, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance with standards, and effective collaboration across project teams.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng / BSc Eng)
• Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng)
• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in civil and structural design and project delivery
• Proficiency in structural design software such as ETABS, STAAD.Pro, Tekla, SAP2000
• Strong knowledge of South African NBR, SANS, OHS and relevant local standards
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

Main Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural engineering design from concept through to construction documentation
• Perform detailed structural analysis, modelling, and design (steel, concrete, timber, composite structures)
• Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
• Liaise with clients, contractors, sub-consultants, and authorities to ensure successful project delivery
• Ensure full compliance with South African and applicable international codes and standards
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and workflows
• Contribute to business development initiatives, proposals, and technical submissions
