Senior Civil Construction Project Manager

Our client is a highly respected construction firm known for its large-scale infrastructure projects, seeking an experienced Senior Civil Construction Project Manager to oversee complex projects in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA . This role demands a leader with a robust background in civil engineering, exceptional project management skills, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and resource allocation to execution, monitoring, and closeout. This includes managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of construction methodologies and risk management.

Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of civil construction projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution. Manage project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure efficient workflow and quality of work. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking progress and identifying potential delays. Control project costs, manage budgets, and approve expenditures, ensuring profitability. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards on all project sites. Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings with stakeholders, clients, and project teams. Manage risk assessment and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle. Review and approve project-related documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports. Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Lead problem-solving efforts for any issues that arise during construction, ensuring swift and effective resolution. Qualifications: BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction project management, with a focus on infrastructure development. Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion. In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and safety regulations. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction management tools. Strong financial acumen, including budget management, cost control, and contract negotiation. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Experience in stakeholder management and client relations. Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification is highly desirable. Experience with hybrid work arrangements, balancing site presence with office tasks.
