Senior Cloud Data Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to lead the design and build of a greenfield, enterprise data platform in a cloud-native environment. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role where you will initially operate as the sole senior engineer, owning architecture, development, and deployment across the full data ecosystem.

This role requires deep expertise in Azure data services, serverless engineering, AI integration, and DevOps automation, with a strong focus on building scalable, production-grade solutions from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities • Architect and build a greenfield data platform end-to-end, including ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers. • Develop scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and modern lakehouse architectures. • Build and maintain serverless, event-driven solutions using Azure Function Apps and Logic Apps. • Integrate Azure AI Services and Azure OpenAI into data workflows (e.g., document intelligence, embeddings, AI-driven enrichment). • Implement REST API integrations, including publishing data to platforms such as SharePoint Lists. • Own and implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform to support consistent and repeatable deployments. • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions (and related tools) to enable automated data and AI deployments. • Support analytical workloads using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Synapse Analytics, and lakehouse patterns. • Ensure ongoing maintenance, stability, and scalability of all pipelines and integrations. • Contribute to multi-cloud readiness, with exposure to AWS-based contingency patterns.

Required Qualifications • ~10+ years of data engineering experience with a focus on cloud-native architecture. • Proven experience working in high ownership roles, including building platforms from scratch or greenfield environments. • Strong expertise in Azure data ecosystem and serverless services, particularly Function Apps and Logic Apps. • Advanced proficiency with SQL and Python (or similar data-focused languages). • Experience integrating AI services (Azure AI Services or Azure OpenAI) into real-world data workflows. • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, authentication flows, and system integrations.
