About the role
About Us
We in the Public Cloud Team believe that the path to the public cloud can be simple, secure, and scalable. This is precisely our vision: a platform that offers our internal teams the best start in the cloud. We need you for this! Our team is small, diverse, and full of drive. We come from different disciplines, learn every day, and enjoy tackling new challenges together. We question, experiment, and don't settle for the first solution we find, because we want a solution that sets standards.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- You conceptualize and implement a secure AWS Landing Zone according to best practices and governance guidelines and continuously develop it to ensure compliance, security-by-design, and scalability.
- You work closely with internal cloud, security, and network specialists as well as external partners to ensure seamless integration into the hybrid cloud landscape.
- You manage knowledge transfer and establish documented standards for architectural decisions, processes, and automation (Infrastructure as Code) to ensure sustainable operating models.
- You align requirements with product owners and subject matter experts and implement them in scalable cloud architectures, including security and compliance requirements.
- You evaluate risks, make well-founded architectural decisions, and ensure integration into existing hybrid cloud environments, including monitoring, observability, and FinOps aspects.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
Required Skills:
- You have successfully completed a degree in computer science or a comparable field with relevant professional experience, or a comparable vocational training with many years of relevant professional experience.
- You have in-depth expertise in AWS architectures, including core services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC) as well as the setup and operation of multi-account structures and landing zones according to governance and security requirements.
- You have a sound understanding of cloud security and network architectures, including IAM, policies, and compliance requirements for effective collaboration with security and network specialists.
- You have experience in managing external partners and internal stakeholders, including progress control, knowledge transfer, and establishing documented standards for architecture and processes.
- You have experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) for automated deployment, versioning, and scaling of cloud infrastructures.
- You have strong communication skills and documentation competence for clearly presenting complex cloud architectures and ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.
Learnable Skills:
- AWS Security & Cost Optimization: You will deepen your knowledge of security services (e.g., GuardDuty, Security Hub, Inspector) and how to use Cost Explorer, Budgets, and tagging strategies.
- Automation & CI/CD: You will learn to build pipelines with AWS CodePipeline or comparable tools and gain knowledge in container and serverless technologies (AWS ECS/EKS, Lambda).
- Multi-Cloud Understanding: You will acquire basic knowledge of Azure for better comparability and integration.
Benefits
What we offer:
- Possibility to work from "home" in the sense of mobile, location-independent work within Germany, including the associated technical equipment.
- Flexible working hours, including the possibility of time off in lieu for good work-life balance.
- A wide range of professional and personal development opportunities, both during and outside working hours, as well as numerous internal communities for networking and mutual learning, and much more…
