Platform Specialist

Overview

This position supports the development and maturation of cloud platforms across Azure and AWS environments. The role focuses on infrastructure best practices, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform reliability, while also supporting on‑premise Kubernetes clusters.

Core Responsibilities

• Implement cloud infrastructure best practices with a focus on site reliability, observability, and scalability
• Collaborate with Product, DBAs, Developers, DevOps, SRE, and Data Engineering teams to drive AWS/Azure standards and IaC adoption
• Support design‑phase cost optimization and cloud architecture improvements
• Identify and resolve system bottlenecks, incidents, and performance issues
• Architect and implement scalable solutions across cloud and on‑prem platforms
• Perform incident investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution
• Manage Kubernetes cluster provisioning, performance tuning, and security configurations
• Monitor systems and remediate platform‑related issues
• Ensure high availability and continuous uptime of data platform services
• Maintain and document platform architecture and environments
• Recommend and implement platform improvements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with AWS and Azure (certification or equivalent experience preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps practices and application deployment automation
• 5+ years of experience administering Linux‑based systems
• 3+ years of experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Salt)
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps
• Experience designing high‑availability systems, including backups, disaster recovery, and load balancing
• Experience with large‑scale distributed systems design and troubleshooting
• Strong documentation and communication skills (technical + stakeholder‑facing)
• Solid understanding of core infrastructure: networking, storage, virtualization

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS Landing Zone, Control Tower, and guardrails
• Strong cloud architecture and infrastructure engineering background
• Deep expertise in Terraform and Ansible automation
• Experience supporting on‑prem Kubernetes environments
