Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Construction Manager to oversee large-scale infrastructure projects in George, Western Cape. This is an on-site position that requires strong leadership, project management expertise, and a deep understanding of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and contract administration. The Senior Construction Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and closing complex construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key responsibilities include developing detailed project plans, managing site operations, supervising construction teams and subcontractors, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, managing project budgets and financial controls, and coordinating with clients, engineers, architects, and regulatory bodies. You will be instrumental in risk management, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses a strong track record of successfully delivering significant infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, or public facilities. A commitment to excellence, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in challenging environments are essential. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of construction projects from inception to completion.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
- Manage and supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Implement and enforce rigorous health and safety standards on site.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial controls are maintained.
- Ensure project quality meets or exceeds contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and authorities.
- Administer construction contracts and manage contractual obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional registration (e.g., Pr CM, Pr Eng) is highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing large-scale projects with budgets exceeding 50 million ZAR.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and building codes.
- Strong expertise in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and contract administration.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region.
