Senior Construction Project Manager - Knysna

Duties

• Oversee, manage and take responsibility for the project, site and all sub-contractors
• Manage and coordinate all site activities
• Drive timelines and project schedule for timeous completion
• Manage budget and budget reports
• Proactively identify delays and implement corrective measures
• Maintain firm control of the critical path and sequencing
• Be the Liaison and communicate with and between the Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Engineers, consultants and the client.
• Lead meetings
• Work closely with the QS to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting, proper management of variations, and alignment between budget and program
• Review subcontractor pricing, claims, and valuations
• Lead and manage subcontractors

Quality control

• Maintain and enforce company building standards
• Ensure quality of finishes
• Manage snag list properly ensuring quality

Health, Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act and site safety requirements
• Report directly to the Directors on program progress, budget and cost status, and risks, delays, and solutions

Requirements

• BSc / BTech in Construction Management, Building, or equivalent (essential)
• Minimum 10+ years experience in the construction industry
• Proven ability to independently run and deliver projects
• Must have experience with up-market residential construction and finishes
• Experience in managing full site operations and professional team coordination
• Solid understanding of QS principles and cost control
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to take control of a site
• Decisive and solution-driven approach
• Excellent programme and planning capability
• High attention to detail and quality
• Strong commercial awareness
• Confident in engaging with professional teams at a senior level
