The Role: Senior Control Systems Engineer / Automation Engineer

This role focuses on the full lifecycle of industrial automation projects, from design through to implementation, testing, and commissioning. You will lead technical delivery on complex projects, support on-site breakdowns, and play a critical role in mentoring junior engineers. Your broad platform expertise and project management skills will ensure quality outcomes across various sectors.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Bring 10+ years experience in industrial automation and process control engineering

• Design and implement industrial automation systems for varied projects

• Program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related control system hardware

• Develop MES and reporting systems

• Design and implement WMS integrations

• Conduct factory acceptance testing and site commissioning

• Provide breakdown support and onsite assistance

• Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards

• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams

Desired Experience & Qualification

About You

• 10+ years experience in automation and process control engineering

• Degree or diploma in Engineering

• Proven experience across Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell Automation, Aveva, and Inductive Automation platforms

• Proficient in SQL, MS Windows, MS Server, and Ethernet network configurations

• Sector experience in Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Water & Wastewater, and Warehousing & Distribution

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Effective communicator with client-facing confidence

• Team player with mentoring abilities

• Able to manage fast-paced, multi-tasking demands

• Willing to travel and work away from home when required

• Possess a valid drivers license and passport

• Legally eligible to work in South Africa
