About the role
Our client, a prominent financial institution, is seeking a highly analytical Senior Credit Analyst to join their Risk Management division in **Bauchi, Bauchi, NG**. This role is essential for assessing and managing credit risk across a diverse portfolio of clients and financial products. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of credit assessment methodologies, financial statement analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive credit analysis for new and existing loan applications, evaluating borrowers' financial health, repayment capacity, and collateral. Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and other relevant financial data to assess creditworthiness. Prepare detailed credit reports and recommendations for senior management and loan committees. Monitor the credit performance of the existing loan portfolio, identifying potential risks and proactively suggesting mitigation strategies. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast potential credit losses and assess portfolio risk. Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Stay abreast of industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk. Conduct due diligence on borrowers and counterparties. Collaborate with relationship managers and front-office teams to understand client needs and structure appropriate credit facilities. Assist in the development and refinement of credit scoring models and risk assessment tools. Participate in internal and external audits related to credit risk management. Mentor junior analysts and provide guidance on credit analysis techniques. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit analysis, corporate banking, risk management, or a similar financial role. Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, accounting principles, and cash flow forecasting. Proficiency in credit risk assessment techniques and methodologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Knowledge of relevant banking regulations and compliance requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with financial modeling software is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments effectively.
