Responsibilities
- Active participation in the operation and further development of the company-wide data platform based on Azure Synapse Analytics and, prospectively, Microsoft Fabric.
- Implementation of data integrations from operational source systems (e.g. ERP, LIMS, MES, etc.) together with specialist departments and IT colleagues.
- Conception, implementation, and operation of data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for structured and unstructured data.
- Development, optimization, and maintenance of data models, Lakehouse/Warehouse structures, and storage systems (e.g. Delta Lake).
- Creation of data products for reporting, analytics, data science, and AI application cases.
- Ensuring data quality, performance, and stability of the data pipelines.
- Participation in the implementation of data governance specifications (e.g. data models, naming conventions, quality rules).
- Creation and maintenance of GxP-compliant documentation of the implemented solutions (architecture, data flows, transformations).
- Close collaboration with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Solution Architects, and specialist departments.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree in computer science, business informatics, data engineering, data science, or a comparable field.
- Several years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, ideally in complex or regulated environments.
- Very good knowledge of SQL and good programming skills in Python.
- Sound experience in data modeling.
- Practical experience with Azure data services, in particular: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, Azure DevOps.
- Experience with agile software development (Scrum/Kanban) and the operation of productive data pipelines.
- High quality awareness, structured way of working, and pronounced problem-solving skills.
- Very good German and English skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience in GxP-regulated environments (e.g. Pharma, MedTech, Life Sciences) and Computer System Validation (CSV) is desirable.
- Know-how in data governance, metadata management, or data quality frameworks is desirable.
- Ideally, initial experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, Notebooks).
- Basic knowledge of Power BI or other BI tools.
