For our Data & Analytics Services team within the IT business unit, we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (Lead, Principal) – Snowflake AWS & Analytics (m/f/d) at our Freiburg location, starting as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in Snowflake and AWS, you will design and implement robust, cloud-native, enterprise-level Snowflake solutions. This hands-on engineering position has significant architectural influence and acts as a technical counterpart to Data Architects. You will work intensively with Snowflake, AWS, dbt, and other modern data tools.
Your core tasks:
- Snowflake Platform Engineering: Account setup, warehouse, performance optimization
- Cloud Integration & Data Pipelines: including ELT with Fivetran/dbt, Snowpipe, AWS S3/Stages
- Governance Implementation: DQ tests (dbt), tagging/masking policies, data contracts
- Self-Service Enablement: Analytics Engineering Patterns, Data Products
Profile
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Data Engineer (m/f/d) with a focus on cloud data architectures.
- Very good German and fluent English (C1) in speaking and writing complete your profile.
Technical Expertise (Must-Have):
- Snowflake-AWS Integration: including architecture, RBAC, performance tuning, S3, IAM
- Data Ingestion: ELT platforms (e.g., Fivetran, Stitch, Snowpipe)
- SQL & Data Modeling: SQL, dbt, dimensional modeling, and Data Vault
- Programming: Python for data processing and automation
- DataOps: Analytics Engineering, Data Mesh, and Self-Service Principles
Nice-to-have:
- Deployment Backbone: Terraform including versioning, state management, possibly GitOps workflows.
- Understanding of Data Management and Data Governance frameworks as well as data quality.
- Experience with data validation, testing methodologies (dbt tests).
- Orchestration & DevOps: Airflow/Dagster, CI/CD, Git workflows.
- Familiarity with visualization tools including: Tableau, Power BI, Streamlit.
- Certifications or equivalent experience such as Snowflake SnowPro, AWS, Terraform.
