Your Role

Start as a Senior Data Engineer (w/m/d).

Are you a data enthusiast who loves innovative architectures? Support our team in Hamburg in rebuilding a cloud-native data platform and take our Data Warehouse landscape to the next level with a modern Lakehouse approach!

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Operation: You design, implement, and operate modern Azure cloud infrastructures that meet the requirements of our data platform.
  • Automation and Infrastructure as Code: You automate deployments and infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform to ensure efficient and reproducible processes.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: You build and operate CI/CD pipelines for automating deployments and tests to enable fast and reliable releases.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: You monitor the operation of cloud environments, continuously optimize performance, costs, and security, and proactively respond to challenges.
  • Security and Compliance: You implement and ensure compliance with security and compliance requirements in the cloud.
  • DevOps Collaboration: You work closely with development teams to ensure stable, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
  • Concept and Migration: You work on the design and implementation of an innovative DWH realized with tools like Coalesce.io, Databricks, and IDMC based on a Lakehouse model.
  • Process & Pipeline Development: You define processes for connecting source systems and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines – from raw ingest to the gold layer.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: You work closely with various departments (e.g., BI, IT Security, Operations) to ensure seamless integration and alignment of technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Completed studies in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Data Science, or a comparable qualification.
  • Several years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, ideally with Azure Data Factory, Spark/Databricks (PySpark/SQL), Delta Lake/Lakehouse, ETL/ELT, analytics modeling (e.g., Star Schema, Power BI), and orchestration.
  • Sound knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially Microsoft Azure) and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Sound knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
  • Thorough understanding of cloud security concepts and best practices.
  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working, as well as strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good German and English skills, both written and spoken, to communicate effectively with international and local teams and to create technical documentation reliably.
