About the role
About
Sound made by Sennheiser - For more than 80 years, we have been one of the world's leading manufacturers of audio products shaping the future of the audio industry. We pride ourselves on our mature microphones and audio solutions that connect people and create exceptional sound experiences - whether in the studio, conference room, or on stage. The audio industry is one of the most exciting to work in.
In our global family company, you will find a unique team where we trust, appreciate, and support each other, and the opportunity to make your own significant contribution to our common progress. We are looking for an experienced specialist in DECT technology to strengthen our R&D team in a key technical role. In this position, you actively shape the technological foundations of our future product portfolio – from the first architectural idea through conceptual development to system implementation.
You will work closely with a strong, interdisciplinary team and bring your expertise to realize powerful, robust, and forward-looking wireless solutions. If you enjoy shaping standards, solving technical challenges, and driving innovation, you are exactly right with us.
Responsibilities
- Develop architecture and design concepts for wireless transmission methods and digital signal processing algorithms based on the DECT-NR transmission standard independently.
- Conduct analyses, simulations, and measurements (e.g., performance, robustness, timing, interference, coverage) to derive system requirements, evaluate architecture options, and identify optimization potentials.
- Actively work on the DECT-NR stack (PHY/MAC), including implementation, optimization, and debugging in an embedded environment.
- Plan and manage defined functional blocks and take over scheduling, technical coordination, risk management, and tracking of work packages in interdisciplinary teams.
- Conduct technical reviews, architecture workshops, design discussions, and decision-making processes or moderate these with relevant internal stakeholders.
- Participate in international standardization committees and funding projects by contributing technical requirements and actively engaging in discussions and review processes.
- Mentor and transfer knowledge to junior and professional engineers, strengthening team-wide expertise in wireless technologies and the DECT-NR standard.
- Create technical documentation (architectures, concepts, specifications, interfaces, test concepts) in close cooperation with purchasing, testing/qualification, production, service, project management, and systems engineering.
- Identify innovation potentials and shape the technological roadmap focusing on strategic reuse of architectural components, guidelines, and development and integration methodologies.
Qualifications
- Successfully completed studies (Master/Diploma) in communications engineering, communication technology, computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar technical field.
- Alternatively, relevant technical training and many years of relevant professional experience in wireless systems, signal processing, or embedded stack development.
- Desirable additional qualifications or further training in modern mobile/radio systems or system architecture.
- Profound knowledge and practical experience in DECT-NR (PHY/MAC), ideally including implementation and optimization on embedded systems.
- Deep understanding of wireless transmission methods and digital signal processing, especially in areas such as channel coding, time/frequency synchronization, and robustness mechanisms.
- Experience in embedded stack development (C/C++).
- Confident use of Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, simulation, and prototyping.
- Advantageous experience in integrating baseband algorithms and signal processing in hardware (e.g., DSPs, FPGAs, SoCs).
- Ideally experience or active participation in standardization committees and confident handling of standards, specifications, and requirements.
- Motivation to work with open-source stacks and contribute to open development models (e.g., collaborative development, community contributions).
Benefits
- Become part of our international family company with a modern and dynamic working environment.
- People and their attitude are at the center - they are our most valuable asset.
- Opportunity to balance work and private life through flexible working hours and mobile work options.
- Attractive collective agreement offering vacation and Christmas bonuses, a 35-hour or 40-hour workweek, and a company pension scheme.
- Company daycare "Ohrwürmchen" for your children while you work.
- Employee purchase program, subsidized healthy meals in the canteen, Hansefit fitness program, workation, and job bike leasing.
- Work in a global team on exciting projects actively shaping the future of the audio sector.
- The audio world is diverse - from concerts and lecture halls to streaming platforms, meeting rooms, and studio recordings. And so are we at Sennheiser!
