Senior DevOps Engineer (Bazel) - US Remote

Workstate is seeking a DevOps Engineer with deep experience designing, implementing, and operating deployment pipelines built around Bazel. This role focuses on Bazel as part of a build, packaging, artifact, and release platform, including reproducibility, remote caching/execution, CI/CD integration, dependency management, environment promotion, and operational reliability. In addition to Bazel expertise, strong experience with AWS, Terraform, and modern DevOps practices is highly valued.

Requirements

• Strong hands‑on experience building and operating deployment pipelines using Bazel
• Experience using Bazel from a DevOps/platform engineering perspective, including build orchestration, artifact packaging, caching, remote execution, and release workflows
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
• Solid experience deploying and operating workloads in AWS
• Experience with artifact repositories, container build workflows, and release promotion processes
• Experience troubleshooting build performance, pipeline failures, and deployment reliability issues
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or similar

This Will Make You An Exceptional Candidate

• Experience managing shared Bazel infrastructure across multiple teams or services
• Experience tuning Bazel remote cache and remote execution performance
• Experience integrating Bazel with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms
• Experience supporting containerized deployments to Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS
• Experience with secrets management, policy enforcement, and secure software supply chain practices
• Familiarity with release engineering, artifact provenance, and reproducible build strategies
• Experience building internal platform capabilities that improve developer productivity and deployment safety
