Senior DevOps Engineer – Cloud Platform (Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services)
Location: Primarily remote; occasional in‑person meetings at the client’s headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.
Travel: Must be available to attend customer meetings as needed.
About the Role
Fearless is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a large‑scale federal workforce training and learning management program. This role manages and maintains the cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational environment that support a secure, scalable Learning Management System (LMS) and associated platforms. The focus is on platform reliability, automation, and system performance, ensuring stable environments, efficient deployments, and continuous monitoring and optimization within a DevSecOps framework.
The Senior Consultant collaborates with cross‑functional teams to align technical vision, implementation, and quality across development, reliability, testing, and operations. The role bridges business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing, while mentoring engineers and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting LMS platforms and related systems (AWS or similar).
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability; implement alerting and remediation strategies as needed.
- Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
- Ensure system security and compliance by integrating security controls into infrastructure and deployment processes (DevSecOps).
- Support environment management across development, testing, and production environments.
- Tooling for performance/availability: monitoring (CloudWatch, Prometheus), logging, incident response playbooks, and SLA adherence.
- Collaborate with software developers to optimize application deployment, performance, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and system‑level issues.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and observability solutions to support system health and incident response.
- Support system scaling and performance optimization to meet user demand and SLA requirements.
- Maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and operational procedures.
- Continuously evaluate and improve platform operations, automation, and system resilience.

Work Experience & Project Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Proven experience managing cloud environments (AWS preferred), including compute, storage, networking, and security services.
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, ELK stack, or similar).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
- Experience working within DevSecOps environments, including integrating security into deployment pipelines.
- Experience supporting high‑availability, scalable systems in enterprise or federal environments.
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP) is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, networking, and system performance issues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including developers, architects, and security personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field is required.

Compensation
- Minimum Salary: $120,588
- Salary Midpoint: $156,764
- Maximum Salary: $195,955
- Hiring Range for Role: $120,588‑$149,000
This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance criteria.
