Senior Design Director

About the Role

The Senior Design Director will lead the creative and strategic direction for women’s intimates including high-performance bras, soft bras, seamless intimates, and core essentials. This role blends technical athletic expertise with fashion-forward sensibility through driving innovation in performance fabrics, engineered construction, and multifunctional design. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who understands the intersection of sport, comfort, and everyday wear, and can translate consumer insight into commercially successful, technically advanced product.

Responsibilities

Creative & Innovation Leadership

• Define seasonal creative direction across performance bras, seamless intimates, base layers, and athleisure sleep.
• Drive innovation from a construction, fabric and finishing perspective.
• Establish cohesive color, material, trim, and silhouette direction aligned with athletic lifestyle positioning.

Technical Product Strategy

• Oversee design and development of above categories.
• Partner with Technical Design to refine fit.
• Balance aesthetics, durability, and function within target cost parameters.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers focused on performance-driven product.
• Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Innovation, Sourcing, Technical Design, and Marketing.
• Ensure alignment between brand storytelling, performance claims, and product functionality.
• Present seasonal strategies and innovation roadmaps to executive leadership.

Market Intelligence & Consumer Insight

• Monitor activewear, performance intimates, and lifestyle market trends.
• Analyze competitive landscape within athletic and athleisure brands.
• Translate seasonal Apparel decks into our classifications.
• Identify whitespace opportunities within performance intimates and sleep categories.

Operational & Global Execution

• Maintain calendar discipline and ensure on-time delivery of design milestones.
• Support wear-testing initiatives and product validation processes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of design experience, with strong background in Athletic, Performance Intimates. Athleisure experience a plus.
• Deep understanding of sports bra engineering, seamless construction, soft bras/bralettes and performance fabrication.
• Proven experience leading high-performing creative teams.
• Strong knowledge of activewear textiles (nylon/spandex blends, warp knits, circular knits, bonded techniques).
• Strong executive presentation and strategic communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or related field.

Compensation

Annual salary range starting at $160,000+
