About the role
Our client, a prominent engineering firm specializing in innovative power solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their fully remote team. This role is crucial for designing and developing cutting-edge electrical systems for a variety of complex projects. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from conceptualization and schematic development to detailed design, component selection, and testing support. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, extensive experience with power systems, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality, reliable designs in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the electrical design of complex power systems, including power distribution, control systems, and integration of renewable energy sources. Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN). Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, short circuit calculations, and voltage drop studies. Select appropriate electrical components, materials, and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, and clients to define system requirements and design parameters. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, codes (e.g., IEC, NEC), and safety regulations. Conduct design reviews, simulations, and analyses to validate performance and identify potential issues. Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, and testing procedures. Provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical design challenges. Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering technology, power systems, and relevant software tools. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on power systems. Proven experience designing power distribution systems, motor control centers, and integrated electrical solutions. Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN). Solid understanding of power electronics, control systems, and automation. Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations. Experience with simulation software (e.g., ETAP, PSpice) is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong asset.
