Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Systems to join our established engineering team based in Gombe, Gombe, NG. This role is critical for the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical power systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. You will be responsible for leading projects from conception to completion, including power generation, distribution, and control systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical understanding of electrical engineering principles applied to power systems, combined with practical experience in project management and technical leadership. You will work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality solutions. This position requires a strong commitment to on‑site presence and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical power systems, including substations, power distribution networks, and protection schemes.
- Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and stability studies.
- Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, and motors.
- Develop single‑line diagrams, schematics, and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, local standards).
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for electrical engineering tasks.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers.
- Conduct site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated system design.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and documentation for project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical power system design and analysis.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Experience with project management methodologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.
