About the role
Our client, a leading industrial solutions provider, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineering Project Manager to spearhead critical projects in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA . This role is vital for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful completion of large-scale electrical engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies through to design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Key responsibilities include: Leading and managing cross-functional project teams to achieve project objectives. Developing comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensuring adherence to all relevant electrical codes, standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. Overseeing the design and engineering phases, including review of schematics, single-line diagrams, and control systems. Managing procurement processes, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and material sourcing. Coordinating site activities, including installation, construction, and commissioning of electrical systems. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks, developing contingency plans as needed. Monitoring project progress, performance, and budget, reporting regularly to stakeholders. Ensuring effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams. Resolving technical issues and project challenges as they arise. Leading project close-out activities, including final inspections, documentation, and lessons learned sessions. Driving continuous improvement in project management methodologies and execution. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A professional engineering registration (Pr.Eng) or PMP certification is highly desirable. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering project management is required, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex industrial or infrastructure projects. Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are essential. You must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities. A thorough understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, control systems, and relevant industry standards is mandatory. Experience in managing large budgets and complex contracts is crucial.
