Senior Electrical Systems Design Engineer

Our client, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our remote engineering team. You will play a critical role in the entire lifecycle of electrical system design, from conceptualization and schematic development to detailed design, simulation, and validation. This role demands a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, power systems, control systems, and relevant industry standards, combined with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage. Create detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and layouts using CAD software. Perform power system analysis, load flow studies, short-circuit calculations, and protection coordination studies. Select and specify electrical components, including switchgear, transformers, generators, inverters, cables, and protection devices. Develop and implement control strategies and logic for electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Conduct thorough design reviews, simulations, and testing to validate system performance and compliance with specifications. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site engineers, in a remote setting. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE), and regulations. Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and commissioning documentation. Provide technical support and guidance to installation and commissioning teams during project execution. Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering, power systems, and renewable energy technologies. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools. Effectively communicate technical information and project status updates to stakeholders through various remote channels. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical systems design, preferably within the power generation or renewable energy sector. Proven expertise in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PowerFactory). Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN). Strong knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, protection schemes, and grid interconnection requirements. Experience with control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote team. Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer registration is highly desirable.
