About the role
Overview
We are actively seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for a direct hire position in Fort Wayne, IN. This role develops, maintains, and documents embedded software for current and legacy systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide embedded software development support for current and legacy naval sonobuoy and related programs
- Support new software development and maintenance of legacy code
- Define software requirements for embedded systems
- Design software solutions and system components
- Write, test, debug, and maintain new and legacy code
- Document software development, testing, and maintenance activities
- Work with program management, project team members, and customer representatives
- Participate in bi-weekly software meetings
- Support testing activities at offsite government and non-government facilities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field
- 12+ years of experience in software and embedded software development and engineering
- Experience supporting both new software development and legacy code maintenance
- Experience defining software requirements
- Experience designing software architectures and components
- Experience writing, testing, and documenting embedded software
- Experience working on complex technical programs
- Ability to travel occasionally to offsite government and non-government test facilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with digital signal processing concepts, including A/D, D/A, and filters
- Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
- Embedded development experience
- Embedded Linux experience
- FreeRTOS experience
- RF experience
- Cryptography experience
- IP networking experience
- FPGA development experience using VHDL or Verilog
