Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Symbotic
About the role
Who we are
With its A.I.-powered robotic technology platform, Symbotic is changing the way consumer goods move through the supply chain. Intelligent software orchestrates advanced robots in a high-density, end-to‑end system – reinventing warehouse automation for increased efficiency, speed and flexibility.
What we need
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining Linux‑based systems for our robotics platform. In this role, you will own features end‑to‑end, collaborate across disciplines, and bring technical depth in areas such as Linux BSPs, Linux kernel driver development, wireless subsystems, and camera sensor integration.
What we do
We are a team of roboticists and software engineers responsible for all software and firmware aspects of our mobile robots. These robots handle cartons inside warehouse structures, moving them to and from storage locations. The reliability of our mobile robots is central to the efficient operation of our systems, and the work this team does directly shapes that reliability.
What you'll do
- Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software systems for our robots.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define system requirements and hardware/software architecture.
- Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers for custom hardware and device integration.
- Design and implement Ethernet networking solutions, including protocols, drivers, and performance optimization.
- Develop and maintain wireless network drivers — including Wi‑Fi and cellular.
- Develop and integrate camera sensor drivers — including V4L2, MIPI CSI‑2, I2C/SPI, GMSL, FPD.
What you'll need
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Linux system development and embedded software engineering.
- A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in kernel‑level programming and Linux driver development.
- Experience with camera sensor driver development and/or networking driver development.
Nice to have
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson and Orin platform development and BSP customization.
- Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded.
Our environment
- Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi‑weekly basis.
