About the role
Our client, a forward-thinking organization at the forefront of the energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Energy Systems Engineer to join their fully remote, innovative engineering division. This pivotal role involves the design, analysis, and optimization of complex energy systems, contributing to the development of sustainable and efficient energy solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation coupled with practical experience in energy infrastructure, power generation, or renewable energy technologies.
Responsibilities: Lead the design, modeling, and analysis of advanced energy systems, including power generation, distribution, storage, and smart grid technologies. Conduct feasibility studies, performance assessments, and economic evaluations for new energy projects and system upgrades. Develop technical specifications, P&IDs, and system architecture designs for energy infrastructure. Utilize simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP) to model system behavior, predict performance, and identify potential issues. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and components for energy systems, considering efficiency, reliability, cost, and environmental impact. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration of energy systems with existing infrastructure and new developments. Troubleshoot complex technical problems related to energy systems performance, operation, and maintenance. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in energy technologies, regulations, and market trends, particularly in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Develop and implement strategies for optimizing energy consumption and reducing carbon footprint. Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and presentations for project stakeholders and management. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on energy system design and analysis. Ensure all designs and analyses comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations. Effectively manage remote project tasks, coordinate with geographically dispersed teams, and maintain clear communication channels. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in energy systems. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in energy systems engineering, including design, analysis, and project management. Strong expertise in power systems engineering, including generation, transmission, and distribution. Proven experience with renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydro) and energy storage solutions. Proficiency in energy system modeling and simulation tools. Knowledge of grid integration, smart grid technologies, and energy market dynamics is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly. Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively within a remote team environment. Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is a significant advantage.
