As a Pipe Class Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and ensuring the quality of pipe class specifications – a key element for safe and efficient design of process and utility systems across our international EPCM projects.
Responsibilities
- Generating project specific pipe classes, specifications and special parts
- Preparing piping material specifications, pipe stress and pipe support specifications
- Assists in the preparation and maintaining the project job file, data books, drawings, specification lists, lists of required design data and design change notices
- Review of standard pipe support and piping detail drawings
- Conducts material take-offs and compile piping bill of material
- Prepares material requisition for manual valves, bulk pipes/fittings and special piping items
- Assists in preparation of piping subcontract requisitioning
- Performs basic calculations (e.g. pipe span, pipe wall thicknesses, branches)
- Material selection based on owners requirements, medium and applicable standards
- Ensures compliance to operational and EHS requirements (Environment, Health and Safety), e.g. TA-Luft
- Selection of components and special items, complying with the technical and safety requirements specified by codes, standards and laws (e.g. PED – European Pressure Equipment Directive)
- Identify potential savings with regard to warehouse management, quantity discounts during purchase and even prevention of installation fault
- Generating and updating Exyte standards, workflows and processes
- Assists in any site support activities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or related fields, Diploma holders with additional 2 - 3 years’ experience unless equated with professional certifications and ideally 5 – 6 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in design and construction of process or clean utility systems
- Experience in Plant Design and Piping engineering works
- Basic understanding of Equipment/Piping layout and space management
- Content of pipe classes and components
- Experiences in design with Plastic / GRP (glass reinforced plastics) materials
- Clear and structured communication
- Work independently and professionally with little supervision
- Understanding of Codes and Engineering Standards of International Clients
- Knowledge of technical piping standards, pipe class background as well as typical supplier specific components
- Knowledge of GMP/GEP requirements
- Very good language skills in both: English and German
- Willingness to travel
