The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Ohms Research Center in Nuremberg is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Senior R&D Engineer in Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems (m/f/d)
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the research and development of novel Power Conversion architecture and converter topologies for future MV Power Conversion Systems.
- Conduct the parameter design, component layout, prototype build-up and subsequent verification and validation of novel converter concepts in the R&D laboratories.
- Closely collaborate with external R&D Institutes and Universities in developing novel converter and control algorithms for MV power electronic applications relevant to Huawei Digital Power.
- Formulate technology insights related to MV power conversion technology.
- Generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR fillings.
- Lead and mentor cross discipline R&D Engineers.
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree in the field of power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering or in a similar background in Research & Development.
- Proven experience in Medium Voltage, high power electronics designs.
- Hands-on experience in hardware design for multi-level converters, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices such as wide band gap devices, and power converter modulation & control.
- Good working knowledge of MV standards and practical insulation coordination experience is desirable.
- High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box.
- Occasional travel related to ongoing projects, seminars, conferences etc. may be required.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Willingness to learn German or additional languages is a plus.
