Senior Lead Engineer

This is an opportunity for a Senior Lead Engineer to take ownership of the technical direction of a large-scale IAM platform build within one of South Africa’s leading financial services organisations.

You will be working on a multi-year platform build, replacing legacy systems with a modern, cloud-based IAM platform that will sit at the core of the business.

The organisation is investing heavily in rebuilding its core platforms, moving away from legacy systems towards modern, scalable architecture.

Engineering teams have full ownership of what they build, with a clear focus on long-term system design and maintainability.

The Role

You will own the architecture and runtime health of a large-scale IAM platform across frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure. Your focus will be on building and shaping a new platform, defining how it is structured, how it scales, and how it is maintained over time.

This includes setting architectural standards, enforcing engineering quality, and conducting cross-stack code reviews. You will drive consistency across delivery, security, and performance.

On the frontend, you will oversee microfrontend architecture using React and Next.js, ensuring alignment to Module Federation patterns and platform contracts. On the backend, you will guide .NET services and RESTful API design, ensuring clean integration patterns and strong data integrity.

You will take ownership of AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability across monitoring, logging, and alerting.

You will work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders on planning and delivery, while mentoring engineers and setting the standard for how the platform is built.

Requirements

• 8+ years software engineering experience with exposure across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
• Strong working knowledge of React / Next.js, Module Federation, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript (code review level)
• Solid experience in C# and .NET with a strong understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns
• Proven experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including deploying and troubleshooting cloud-native workloads
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (GitHub Actions, Terraform, Helm)
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for automation
• Strong Linux/Unix fundamentals with a good understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL)
• Good understanding of security best practices, IAM concepts, and application security principles
