Hire Resolve is representing a prominent company in the steel manufacturing industry that is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their engineering team. This position plays a crucial role in driving engineering projects and ensuring operational effectiveness within the steel production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, while implementing risk management strategies to minimize hazards and protect personnel and assets.
  • Uphold established engineering standards to ensure high-quality and consistent operations, regularly reviewing and updating them to align with industry best practices and technological advancements.
  • Utilize best practices to optimize the value and performance of assets throughout their lifecycle, including effective maintenance, reliability, and performance monitoring.
  • Enhance operational performance by improving availability, reliability, capability, efficiency, and quality, deploying methods and tools to streamline processes and reduce disruptions.
  • Manage life cycle costs of assets to achieve cost efficiency while maintaining performance and quality, identifying opportunities for cost savings and implementing cost-effective solutions.
  • Build and nurture a proactive, innovative team focused on achieving excellence, providing training, support, and resources to foster skill development and a collaborative work environment.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in equipment, systems, and personnel performance, encouraging feedback and innovation to enhance processes and address performance gaps.
  • Anticipate future needs related to resources, technology, and equipment obsolescence, developing long-term strategies and plans to address emerging challenges and opportunities in asset management.

Requirements

  • BSc/BEng/B Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency – Factories, with at least 5 years’ experience as GMR2.7 appointee in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility
  • Approximately 10 years’ experience in a managerial role
  • Highly effective people management, team building, and communication skills (both written and spoken)
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and functions
  • Outcomes-driven with a focus on achieving objectives related to Safety, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and cost
  • Strong understanding of asset management practices and systems
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, capable of coping under pressure and making tough decisions
  • Preference for candidates with experience in capital project implementation and management
