Senior Manager, Brake Controls Software & Vehicle Applications

About the Role

HL Mando America Corp. is seeking a Senior Manager, Brake Controls Software & Vehicle Applications to lead engineering activities for advanced electronic braking systems.

This role will manage the Brake Controls, Software, and Vehicle Application team and serve as a key technical leader for OEM customer programs involving Integrated Dynamic Brake systems, E-Boost, Motor-on-Caliper, ABS, ESC, TCS, and related brake control technologies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong automotive product engineering experience, proven leadership capability, and technical depth in brake controls, software integration, vehicle application, validation, tuning, and launch support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead brake controls, software, and vehicle application engineering activities.
• Support software integration, validation, tuning, system-level performance, issue resolution, production launch, and manufacturing readiness.
• Serve as a key technical interface with OEM customers, internal teams, and global engineering groups.
• Lead design reviews, requirement reviews, software release planning, functional safety reviews, and customer technical discussions.
• Manage engineering priorities, milestones, deliverables, technical risks, open issues, countermeasures, and escalation needs.
• Partner with Quality on warranty investigations, returned part reviews, root cause analysis.
• Manage, coach, and develop engineering team members while driving technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 10+ years of automotive product engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering management, technical leadership, program leadership experience.
• Experience working directly with OEM customers in a technical or program-facing capacity.
• Experience with automotive braking systems, brake controls, chassis controls, software integration, vehicle application, validation, tuning, or related automotive control systems.
• Strong understanding of automotive product development, engineering deliverables, validation timing, launch support, customer requirements, and cross-functional programs.
• Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed, global engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Integrated Dynamic Brake systems, E-Boost, Motor-on-Caliper, Electronic Parking Brake, ABS, ESC, TCS, brake-by-wire, related electromechanical braking systems.
• Familiarity with Vector tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, vFlash, diagnostic/calibration tools.
• Working knowledge of CAN communication, AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, ASIL concepts, or related automotive software and functional safety standards.
• Prior Tier 1 automotive supplier experience.
• Experience with global engineering teams, production validation, plant testing, warranty analysis, customer quality issue resolution, or manufacturing readiness.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
