A well-funded, high-growth B2B SaaS company is scaling its core engineering organisation - and they need a Senior Engineering Manager to own one of the most important product lines in the business.
This is a high-ownership, high-autonomy role where you'll lead a growing team of engineers, drive the full customer journey end-to-end, and partner directly with product, GTM, and leadership to shape what gets built and how fast it ships.
The product is live, the customers are enterprise-grade, and the team is already moving fast. They need someone who can step in, take the wheel, and build.
Role Overview
You'll lead a multi-team engineering org of 10+ engineers across two or more pods, owning everything from onboarding through to feature adoption and customisation on a mature, widely-used platform. You'll set technical direction, manage managers and senior ICs, and be the single point of accountability for your org's output.
Fully in-person in New York. Fast-paced, high-accountability, no nonsense.
What You'll Own
- Full leadership of a multi-team engineering org — managing managers and senior ICs
- End-to-end customer journey: onboarding, adoption, and feature customisation
- Cross-functional collaboration with product, design, GTM, and senior leadership
- Technical direction — architecture, design reviews, and engineering standards
- Driving AI-enabled development and automation across your team
- Building a high-ownership, execution-focused culture in a fully in-person environment
Important Notes
- Strictly in-person in NYC — relocation support is available
- Startup or scale-up background is non-negotiable — large company-only profiles won't be considered
- This is a product-oriented EM role — strong technical grounding is essential
- High-autonomy, high-velocity environment — you need to be comfortable owning outcomes, not just managing process
Must-Haves
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 2–3+ years managing engineering teams including managers or team leads
- Full-stack product engineering leadership inside a B2B startup or scale-up (Seed–Series D)
- Deep Python and AWS expertise
- Strong product sense and proven roadmap ownership
- High-ownership mentality — bias for action, speed, and delivery
- Degree in computer science or a related technical discipline
Bonus Experience
- Hands-on experience building internal tooling or workflows using AI
- Background in API-driven products or developer infrastructure
- Experience scaling a team through rapid headcount growth
