Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst
Onsite | Sterling, VA Area
Salary: $95,000 with employee insurance 100% covered by employer
We are seeking a Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst to join a high-performing and collaborative accounting team in the Sterling, VA area. This is a hands-on role offering strong visibility to senior finance leadership and the opportunity to contribute across core accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis.

Position Overview
The Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and analytical initiatives. This individual will work closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams, while also contributing to special projects and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Support month-end close activities including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Perform revenue and expense analysis, including variance reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Contribute to financial analysis and ad hoc reporting requests
Audit & Compliance
- Assist with year-end audit and audit preparation
- Prepare supporting schedules and research accounting issues
Collaboration & Special Projects
- Partner with accounting, AP, and systems teams on daily operations
- Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects
- Provide backup support across the accounting team as needed
- Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (not Finance)
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger and audit exposure
- Public accounting experience (1–2+ years strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Preferred:
- Experience with ERP systems (Great Plains a plus)
- CPA is not required, but progress toward certification is a plus
