About the role

SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst will work directly with the Plant Controller and FP&A Manager to analyze the results and work with the plant location to provide explanations of results to be presented to Plant/Division leadership. The Senior Financial Analyst will possess strong communication and project management skills with an ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to meet aggressive deadlines. Other duties will include data extraction, report writing, process improvements, SOX and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate internal reporting requirements across the plant
  • Assist with the coordination of the month end close and quarterly reporting requirements to Division.
  • Develop and maintain processes for reporting daily and weekly financial and operational metrics in support of management team in accordance with corporate/division requirements and guidelines.
  • Assist in the reporting and consolidation for monthly and quarterly financial results to Metals Group leadership and corporate/division as required, including ad hoc reporting request as required.
  • Prepare quarterly operational and financial review packages for the Plant/Division/Corporate.
  • Complete special projects and participate in process improvement activities and related analysis.
  • Analyze and report on Balance Sheet and Income Statement variances, identify root causes and provide executive summary to Plant leadership.
  • Evaluates the adequacy of cost accounting systems, policies and procedures, and evaluates other accounting and production systems, policies and procedures in reference to cost accounting.
  • Directs and coordinates standard rate collection.
  • Directs the allocation of overhead costs.
  • Coordinates the forecasting of inventory levels.
  • Directs quarterly physical inventories.
  • Initiates and/or analyzes cost accounting system requests, identifies alternatives, makes recommendations and implements approved requests.
  • Explains cost accounting systems, policies and procedures and assists in the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Interprets and reports rate change impact on inventories.
  • Evaluates the need for special cost studies and analysis; directs the preparation of the study; and interprets, evaluates and presents the results.
  • Selects, develops and directs junior/senior level professional and clerical personnel in assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Supports management in decision making on product costs for market analysis and disposition of scrap.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in testing business processes and user training, document system processes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in Accounting. CPA/MBA preferred.
  • 5-7 years of Accounting/Finance experience
  • Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.
