Excelitas' Göttingen site is the center of excellence for the development and production of photonic solutions for the semiconductor equipment market. For this highly demanding market, the Göttingen site supplies highly complex opto-mechanical modules, subsystems, and components for applications in lithography, wafer inspection, chip bonding, and packaging. Additionally, this site manufactures and supplies a wide range of optical and mechanical components up to complete optical systems to support scientific research and development as well as industrial production.

The Role

The Senior Financial Analyst acts as a trusted business partner for the relevant business unit within the Semiconductor Equipment Division. In this role, they provide key support and insights, serving as a reliable advisor for business decisions, customer inquiries, and the development of business cases, considering pricing and margin development. The Senior Financial Analyst is also responsible for tracking R&D projects, analyzing performance metrics, interpreting the profit and loss statement, contributing to Division Operating Reviews, and evaluating other key performance indicators (KPIs). This position is based in Göttingen and reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance of the Semiconductor Equipment Division.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and R&D Leaders to provide analysis and tools to explain P&L and FOCF drivers and optimize performance
  • Communicate variance analysis to relevant managers
  • Track projects and NPIs, and conduct phase-gate reviews from R&D to production
  • Support Monthly Operating Reports (MORs) with schedules and analysis
  • Review and adjust pricing to maximize profitability
  • Forecast product line revenues and margins in collaboration with front-end and functional leaders
  • Maintain and upload forecast data in OneStream
  • Review the final profit and loss statement, including Operating Costs of Goods Sold (OCOGs)
  • Manage GAAP revenue recognition plans and analyze associated bookings
  • Track and analyze R&D projects and their bookings
  • Support allocation processes for assigning expenses to cost centers and profit centers
  • Prepare margin reports and variance analyses (SOX relevant)
  • Assist with ad-hoc reporting and business cases for new product introductions, investments, and M&A
  • Contribute to external audits on revenue and business matters

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Finance, Accounting, or a comparable qualification; an MBA is a plus
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in Finance or Accounting, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid knowledge of systems like AX, SAP, Power BI; knowledge of S4/HANA and planning and reporting tools such as Hyperion or OneStream is a plus
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally at all levels of the organization
  • Independent, responsible work style and high intellectual curiosity
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken
  • Experience in regulated environments (ISO 9001, 14001, 13485, FDA-QSR) is a plus
