3 - Month Contract

Hands on position

We are seeking an experienced financial professional to join our team on a short-term contract basis to support the completion of our financial audit. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role the ideal candidate will be able to come up to speed quickly, dive directly into financial schedules and supporting workpapers, and work alongside the internal team to identify and resolve outstanding issues before audit close.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile financial schedules, supporting workpapers, and trial balance to identify discrepancies, gaps, and items that do not tie or balance
  • Investigate and resolve variances across balance sheet accounts, income statement line items, and supporting subledgers
  • Assist in the preparation and/or review of audit schedules and PBC (Prepared by Client) packages
  • Support the team to respond to open queries and provide supporting documentation
  • Identify control gaps or documentation deficiencies and work with the team to remediate them within the audit timeline
  • Coordinate with accounting, finance, and operations teams to gather information and resolve outstanding items
  • Provide clear status updates and escalate issues to senior leadership as needed

Required Qualifications

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including minimum of 5 years of direct audit or audit-support experience
  • Prior experience at the Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Manager level in accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, ASPE
  • Demonstrated ability to work through complex financial schedules and reconciliations independently
  • Experience working directly with external audit teams and managing PBC requests
  • High proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (365 Dynamics) is an asset
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or mid-market firm) strongly preferred
