Position Details

• Title: Senior Financial Data Analyst
• Duration: 6 Months Contract with possible extension
• Location: McLean, VA (5 days – Onsite)
• Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial/Data Analyst to support a large strategic financial initiative within the Investments & Capital Markets division. The role involves a mix of project management, financial reporting, data analysis, reconciliations, and testing, along with coordination across business and IT teams.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced SQL expertise
• Ability to read and understand Python code
• Strong Excel (advanced level) skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Financial background (accounting/finance/reporting)
• Experience with large datasets and relational databases
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Mortgage/Capital Markets domain experience
• Experience with financial systems or accounting applications
• Knowledge of general ledger/subledger data
• JIRA experience
• Data automation and validation experience

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex data analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Use advanced Excel and SQL for large dataset analysis and validation
• Gather and document data transformation and financial requirements
• Support testing (UAT), regression, and reconciliation activities
• Create and maintain technical and process documentation
• Automate validation and data preparation processes
• Track development activities using JIRA
• Troubleshoot and resolve data and project issues
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders
• Support project management activities, including tracking, reporting, and training

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Strong expertise in:
  • SQL querying on complex datasets
  • Advanced Excel (data manipulation, validation, reporting)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
