Senior Fire Engineer – Building Services

Responsibilities

• Lead fire safety and compliance design for multidisciplinary building projects
• Deliver rational fire designs, including smoke evacuation, stair pressurisation, and sprinkler systems
• Manage medium to large projects independently or within a broader design team
• Represent projects in client, design, and site meetings
• Oversee tender documentation, project administration, and technical outputs
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in fire engineering within building services
• Strong expertise in SANS fire design standards and rational fire safety design
• In-depth experience in sprinkler systems, smoke control, and fire protection design
• Exposure to complex commercial, industrial, or mixed‑use building projects
• Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
• High level of technical reporting and communication ability

Qualification

• BEng / BTech Mechanical Engineering
• ECSA registration (PrEng/PrTechEng)
