Senior Frontend Engineer

THE COMPANY

A leading South African financial services organisation undergoing a major platform transformation, investing in scalable, modular architecture to support its insurance and asset management platforms. The environment is engineering-led, focused on system design, reusability, and long-term scalability.

THE ROLE

You’ll build composable microfrontend modules as part of a modern platform transformation for one of South Africa’s largest financial services organisations, integrating into a central platform using runtime composition.

Working with React, Next.js, and TypeScript, you’ll develop modular, reusable UI components integrated via Module Federation and platform extension points.

You’ll work with platform SDKs to manage context, events, and communication between modules, while ensuring alignment with platform contracts, security standards, and performance requirements.

The focus is on building scalable, component-driven UI that underpins a broader platform transformation.

THE REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years’ commercial experience with frontend development
• Proven experience with microfrontend architecture or Module Federation
• Strong React and Next.js (App Router) experience
• TypeScript in production environments
• State management (React Query, Zustand or similar)
• Solid understanding of browser security (CSP, sandboxing)
• Experience working with design systems and component libraries
• Exposure to frontend observability (e.g. OpenTelemetry)
