Airbus Defence and Space is looking for several Full-Stack Software Engineers (m/f/d) - Development of mission-critical applications.

To shape the future of autonomous systems, Airbus is bundling its strengths in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy. For this purpose, we are establishing a new, agile competence and development center at the traditional technology site of Tesat in Backnang. In this environment, which combines decades of expertise in space technology with the dynamics of a startup, we are developing the next generation of AI-powered defense and dual-use applications.

As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will be responsible for transforming our AI models into a functional, intuitive, and high-performance application. You will build both the robust engine room in the backend and a sophisticated application in the frontend. Your work will make our complex technology manageable for the user and create an autonomous system solution.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Backend & API Development: Design and implementation of scalable microservices and robust APIs (REST, gRPC) for connecting our AI models
• Edge Application Development: Implementation of complex, data-intensive edge applications using modern C++ frameworks.
• Database Management: Design of data models and management of our SQL and NoSQL databases
• Data Visualization: Development of interactive map views and visualizations for displaying real-time situational awareness
• End-to-End Responsibility: You work across the entire stack, ensuring seamless integration of the edge device, backend, and infrastructure

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Excellent programming skills in both a modern backend language (e.g., Python, Go) and for edge applications (C++)
• Practical experience in building distributed systems, API development, and working with cloud-native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• An eye for good design and the passion to create outstanding user experiences
• A high standard of quality and the motivation to take responsibility for the entire application
• Approx. 4-8 years of relevant professional experience
• Fluent English skills, German skills are an advantage
