About the role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geospatial Data Analyst to join our expanding Scientific Research & Development team. This position is based at our state-of-the-art facility in **Uyo, Akwa Ibom, NG**, and requires a dedicated professional with a passion for leveraging spatial data to drive critical research insights. You will be responsible for acquiring, processing, analyzing, and visualizing complex geospatial datasets to support various R&D projects. This includes working with satellite imagery, aerial photography, GIS data, and other location-based information. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, advanced proficiency in GIS software and spatial analysis techniques, and a solid understanding of scientific research methodologies. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, researchers, and engineers to interpret spatial patterns, identify trends, and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries. This role requires a meticulous approach to data management, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of critical information. Your work will be fundamental in advancing our understanding of environmental, geological, and societal phenomena through the power of spatial intelligence. Responsibilities include: Collecting, cleaning, and managing diverse geospatial datasets from various sources. Performing advanced spatial analysis using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and related tools. Developing and implementing methodologies for data interpretation and pattern recognition. Creating high-quality maps, visualizations, and reports to communicate findings effectively. Collaborating with research teams to define analytical requirements and provide geospatial support. Developing geodatabases and managing spatial data integrity. Applying remote sensing techniques for image analysis and feature extraction. Conducting statistical analysis of spatial data to identify relationships and trends. Staying current with advancements in GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial technologies. Contributing to the development of research proposals and scientific publications. Qualifications: Master's degree in Geography, Geosciences, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field with a strong geospatial component. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in geospatial data analysis and GIS. Expert proficiency in industry-standard GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS suite) and extensions. Strong skills in spatial analysis, remote sensing, and cartography. Experience with programming languages commonly used in GIS (e.g., Python with libraries like GeoPandas, Rasterio) is highly desirable. Familiarity with various data formats (vector, raster) and database management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Experience working in a research and development environment is a plus. Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
