About the role
Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their globally dispersed engineering team, operating on a remote-first basis. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who excels in analyzing soil and rock mechanics, foundation design, and slope stability, all while contributing remotely to significant infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for providing expert geotechnical analysis and design recommendations, ensuring the safety and integrity of structures across various challenging environments. The role involves interpreting site investigation data, performing advanced numerical modeling, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive geotechnical solutions.
Primary Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations and interpret findings from soil and rock testing. Perform detailed analysis for foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations, for a wide range of structures. Analyze slope stability, earth retention systems, and pavement design. Utilize advanced geotechnical software for numerical modeling (e.g., finite element analysis) to assess soil-structure interaction and complex scenarios. Develop geotechnical design reports, specifications, and recommendations. Provide remote technical support and guidance to project teams, contractors, and clients. Review and approve geotechnical designs prepared by others. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and contribute to professional development within the team. Collaborate effectively with civil, structural, and environmental engineers in a virtual setting. Participate in project planning and contribute to proposals for new business opportunities. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. A Master's degree is highly preferred. A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering. Proven experience in the design of foundations, earthworks, and slope stabilization. Proficiency with geotechnical analysis and modeling software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC). Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles. Excellent report writing and technical communication skills. Ability to interpret complex geological and site investigation data. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting. Membership in relevant professional engineering bodies is advantageous. Experience with international geotechnical standards and practices. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your expertise on impactful projects without the need for relocation. Join our client's forward-thinking team and contribute to the development of robust and sustainable infrastructure from anywhere.
