About the role
As a Senior Accountant at our company, you will be responsible for managing a team of 7 accountants handling 5 firms. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing daily financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer and tax regulations. - Managing inventory accounts, including floorplan financing, and computing vehicle sales commissions, bonuses, and holdbacks. - Preparing accurate monthly financial statements (balance sheets, income statements) in accordance with Accounting Standards. - Reconciling bank statements, floorplan accounts, vendor ledgers, and expense accounts on a regular basis. - Overseeing or performing accounts payable (AP) and receivable (AR) processing, ensuring proper coding and payment. - Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and manufacturer regulations regarding tax filings (e.g., GST, TDS) and financial disclosures. - Assisting with annual or internal audits and coordinating with external auditors. - Reviewing accounting processes for efficiency and accuracy, providing training to junior staff as needed. - Fulfilling GST Compliance with timely filing of returns in accordance with GST Portal and after consulting the Chartered Accountant.
To qualify for this role, you should have: - Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. - Experience: 35+ years of accounting experience, with at least 12 years in an automotive dealership setting preferred. - Technical Skills: Proficiency in dealership management systems (DMS) along with advanced Excel skills. - Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
