The Company
My client is a rapidly scaling innovator in the defense and advanced electronics sector. With headquarters in the Munich area, this organization blends start-up agility with world-class engineering rigor, always pushing boundaries in radio-frequency, system complexity, and real-world reliability.
The Role
As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will:
- Develop and deliver high-density, high-speed PCB systems (think microvias, buried vias, dense layouts).
- Integrate challenging RF solutions (UWB, HF, and other advanced radio technologies).
- Choose your tools: whether you excel with KiCad, Altium, or another platform, results matter more than tools.
- Take prototypes from schematic to reality, writing scripts (Python/C/Bash) to validate board communication (I2C, SPI, UART).
- Tackle hands-on engineering: perform rework, soldering, lab tests, and build test harnesses as required.
- Use equipment like spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes to ensure robust verification.
- Embed CE, RED, and FCC compliance into every development stage.
Essential Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience in complex hardware, PCB, and RF design, especially HDI, high-speed signals, or densely populated boards.
- Able to commute to the Munich area for crucial project phases (20–40% onsite expected).
- Eligibility for German (EU/NATO) security clearance. German or EU/NATO citizenship required.
- Professional English skills; conversational German is a plus.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Battle-tested mindset: proven ability to pragmatically balance simulation, prototyping, and manufacturability.
- Experience designing electronics for harsh or mission-critical environments (defense, aerospace, UAV, automotive safety tech).
- Contribution to products that survived strict certification and field use.
- Mastery of both innovative design and hands-on troubleshooting in the lab.
