Senior HR Consultant

Clarity Recruitment

Toronto · Hybrid Contract Senior $70 – $80/hr 1w ago

About the role

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an HR Consultant to support their people operations across multiple jurisdictions and locations. Reporting to Sharon (HR leadership), this contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on HR leader who can quickly drive execution across compensation and benefits, HRIS implementation, policy rollout, employee relations, and performance/talent processes.

This engagement is highly deliverable-focused: you’ll help “get the house in order” by moving critical programs to completion (including annual compensation review, benefits improvements, and Dayforce implementation support) while reducing administrative lift on the HR lead so they can focus on longer-range priorities. You’ll partner closely with site leaders and corporate stakeholders to strengthen consistency, compliance, and employee experience across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual salary review process and compensation benchmarking across four locations
  • Coordinate and complete Mercer survey participation
  • Implement total rewards statements for employees
  • Conduct pay equity / pay transparency compliance review and ensure documentation is in place
  • Manage benefits broker RFP and ongoing broker relationship management (including resolving current issues impacting Mexico)
  • Drive improvements to the employee experience by automating benefits enrollment and reducing manual paperwork
  • Support Dayforce implementation across entities (including Toronto and other locations as applicable)
  • Address inherited HRIS issues by improving data integrity and standardizing core data practices
  • Build HR reporting and analytics (e.g., turnover, headcount, recruiting metrics) and establish repeatable reporting cadence
  • Finalize, publish, and roll out HR policies that are pending (including performance management, promotion criteria, and attendance management)
  • Update the employee handbook to reflect pay transparency requirements and new/updated programs
  • Execute and track culture survey action plans across sites; monitor engagement progress and outcomes
  • Design and implement a service award / recognition program
  • Manage day-to-day employee relations matters to reduce escalations; conduct workplace investigations when required
  • Conduct skip-level meetings at site locations to support trust rebuilding and employee communication
  • Support Ministry of Labor compliance cleanup in response to complaints and identified gaps
  • Run performance management cycles (goal setting, mid-year, annual) and support leaders through adoption
  • Establish a practical succession planning framework for key roles
  • Provide coaching support to leaders on communication, empathy, and people leadership effectiveness
  • Execute campus recruitment activities and improve consistency in candidate experience
  • Standardize onboarding processes across locations and create onboarding materials (including benefits and equity compensation education: RSUs, PSUs, options)
  • Provide payroll oversight and quality control (review/approval) and ensure continuity during transitions (without serving as the payroll processor)
  • Oversee equity compensation processing and coordination with Finance stakeholders
  • Partner with external/internal payroll support to assist in cleanup of historical issues and prevent recurrence
  • Support multi-jurisdiction payroll compliance considerations (Canada, US board members, and other complex scenarios as needed)
  • Advise leadership by preparing HR business cases, recommendations, and risk/mitigation approaches
  • Support compliance and risk mitigation across jurisdictions (e.g., Ontario, Nevada, Mexico, Argentina), including responses related to WSIB, Ministry of Labor, and CRA as required
  • Ensure appropriate documentation practices for performance issues and terminations

What You Bring

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver hands-on HR execution in a multi-site, multi-jurisdiction environment
  • Strong working knowledge of compensation and benefits processes, including salary reviews, benchmarking, survey participation, and pay transparency/pay equity documentation
  • Experience supporting or coordinating HRIS implementations (Dayforce experience or similar implementation support) and improving HR data integrity
  • Proven capability to build practical HR reporting and metrics (turnover, headcount, recruitment)
  • Track record of drafting, finalizing, and rolling out HR policies and employee handbook updates
  • Strong employee relations experience, including handling sensitive issues and conducting workplace investigations
  • Experience executing culture/engagement initiatives and translating survey findings into action plans
  • Ability to run performance management cycles and support talent processes like succession planning
  • Recruitment and onboarding process improvement experience, including campus recruitment execution
  • Comfort providing payroll oversight/quality control and supporting compliance without being the payroll “doer”
  • Ability to coach and influence leaders with a pragmatic, outcomes-focused approach
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to progress multiple deliverables concurrently in a contract environment
