HVAC Commissioning Engineer

About

Opportunity for a Senior HVAC Commissioning Engineer with strong technical expertise to oversee contractor installation and commissioning efforts for building automation system projects in the Metro DC area. The ideal candidate would analyze system data, trend logs, and test results to identify performance issues or optimization opportunities. In addition to supporting troubleshooting efforts during commissioning by interpreting control sequences, equipment behavior, and system interactions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in:
  • Commissioning (new construction and/or retrofit projects), or
  • Building Automation System (BAS) engineering
• Proven experience analyzing trended field data and/or performing statistical analysis
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across:
  • HVAC systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
• Working knowledge of building automation and controls systems
• Moderate to advanced proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional preferred skills:

• Bluebeam
• Visio

Certifications

• ANSI-accredited commissioning certification through organizations such as ASHRAE, Building Commissioning Association (BCA), or AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), or a strong willingness to obtain certification.

Education

• Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree (or equivalent military experience) in Engineering or a related technical field
