About the role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Industrial Automation Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to work from anywhere. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex industrial automation systems for manufacturing and process industries. Your expertise will be crucial in developing robust solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, and robotic integration.
Responsibilities: Design and architect industrial automation solutions, including control systems, safety systems, and data acquisition. Develop and program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) for various industrial applications. Integrate robotic systems, motion control, and vision systems into automated processes. Configure and maintain SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for process monitoring and control. Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues, ensuring minimal downtime. Conduct system testing, commissioning, and validation activities. Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams to understand requirements and provide technical expertise. Develop technical documentation, including design specifications, programming manuals, and training materials. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in industrial automation technologies and best practices. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of the automation engineering team. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation engineering. Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI/SCADA software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Wonderware). Experience with industrial networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus). Knowledge of robotic programming and integration (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Experience with project management principles is a plus. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and IIoT is advantageous.
